I absolutely love this time of year.  My family and I always had our traditions in these final weeks leading up to the week of holiday fun – starting right after Thanksgiving.  First, there was always Black Friday – manic shopping – then there was finding the tree, dressing the tree, and baking cookies.  We celebrated with the family on Christmas Eve, then again Christmas Day, ending with a big dinner at night of ham and all the good food you could ever imagine.

This year, I’m spending Christmas in England with my boyfriend’s family.  It is a little sad, since I won’t be able to do my family traditions, but I am excited to participate in his!  English Christmas = mince pies, Christmas pudding, Christmas Crackers… and all sorts of new experiences.  I’m glad they are allowing me to share in it all!

To get us in the spirit a little earlier than normal for England, we went and watched Arthur Christmas – a cute animated flick about Santa Claus.  I loved it!  I’m sure Ben found it utterly boring.  Now I just want to grab some hot chocolate and go ice skating.

What gets you in the holiday spirit? x

Things I Love…

Love. Obviously.

I fell in love a year and 8 months ago – nearly – with the most amazing and generous man I have ever met.  I have not looked back since, and have only fallen more in love each day.  So… only right to start off with the thing I love the most – which is him.

I won’t bore with the details, but I am sure you can relate.  People love in all different types of ways.  Some find love through words or deeds – others by a more physical side.  I find compatibility with my partner through affection and laughter – something this photo grabs perfectly.

Did you make a wish?  Do you keep it secret?  I always believed that a wish that was kept a secret was more likely to come true.  But what’s a secret if you don’t tell just one person? Thus, I am always giving away surprises and the like – I just can’t keep one from my closest friends and especially my partner.  Even surprises for him I can’t keep!

But I am determined to keep this one!  May all of our secret wishes made on 11.11.11 at 11.11am come true! x

A year and nearly 8 months ago, I stumbled unknowingly on this beautiful city.  I was only 20, six months out of a terrible and emotionally abusive relationship, and arriving at Heathrow in sunny London weather.  I immediately felt something in me that I had never felt before.  I felt more at home than I had ever felt anywhere else in my life.

A week later, I met the man that would turn out to be the love of my life – on a tube.  And now – I find myself here for the third time, in a six month temporary job, with a more permanent position in the new year.  My whole life had changed a year and 8 months ago.

This photo reminded me of that story.  I am still madly in love with my English man – even though most people will look at our just over a year and a half relationship as something still very young.  This would be the photo that would explain everything – my emotions, my love for him and the city.

What does this photo remind you of? x
